2018-2019 Clubs

Choir

The choir rehearses weekly as an entire group. We will rehearse as needed in smaller groups to share solos, and individually if there are individual solos (acting, singing and speaking). We will present several concerts throughout the year, in school and in the community. Our literature ranges from classical to contemporary pop. Come join the fun!

Club Harry Potter

Are you a Harry Potter fan? Each meeting we will be reading/watching parts of the books and/or movies and then discussing the events and/or characters. We will also be doing some hands on activities and “potions” that are related to parts of the series.

Fitness Friend-zy

Come get the endorphins running with Miss Klomes and Miss Salerno as we exercise and create long lasting friendships during Fitness Friend-zy! We will explore yoga, cardio, strength, stretching, Zumba and more, and you will learn the importance of keeping your body healthy and strong. We look forward to seeing you in the Spring!

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is a club for girls in 3rd-5th grade. Students that join the Girls on the Run team will work on strategies to help with things such as  resisting peer pressure and gossip, finding inner beauty and positive self-image, as well as cooperating with others. Within the  program,  the  girls  set goals and practice positive decision-making in their lives. They do this  through fun activities that include running and physical exercise. At the end of the season, the girls complete a community project and run a 5K race!!!

Horcrux Hunters

This club is for students who have already participated in Club Harry Potter. Just like Harry, Hermione, and Ron, we will be learning about each horcrux. We will also be going on a search for a new horcrux each meeting.

Intermediate Art Club

Art Club will be offered to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students interested in exploring and experimenting with various mediums with various mediums and techniques in art.

Intramurals- 4th Grade

4th grade Intramurals is a sport club that teaches the skills and strategies needed to play basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, gymnastics and more. Students will have an opportunity to play these games in class. I will also introduce a mystery game box where students can choose other games they would like to play.

Intramurals- 5th Grade

5th Grade Intramurals is a sport club that will give the student an opportunity to learn the skills and strategies needed to play soccer, volleyball, and other fun games. Students will be given an opportunity to play these games in a weekly tournament. Also, the student will be taught the rules of the game and be given a chance to referee some of these games. Session 1 will include soccer, volleyball, floor hockey, and some PE games. Session 2 will include basketball, gymnastics, softball, and  dodgeball.

Mileage Club

In this club, physical fitness is key. Students will walk or run laps with the goal of reaching certain distances (1 mile, 5 miles, etc.) over time. Small tokens will be given as a reward for reaching milestones.

Photography Club

Students will explore the art of digital photography. They will learn various types of techniques and ways to use photos in a creative and artistic way.

Art Club members will participate in various art related activities to take home and share with family members! Art projects will vary, but we try to choose projects based on seasons and holidays.

Science Club

Did you ever want to try a taste test with your friends to see if Coke really does taste better than Pepsi? Or have you ever wondered if your dog really prefers Puppy Chow over Pedigree? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Science Club  and Science Fair are for you. Come and have fun with other students while you design and plan out a Science Fair project. With the use of technology, your Science Fair project could be the one to see! Mrs. Von Borstel and Ms. Cumbo will help guide you through the process of research, investigation, and submission of a project to the Memorial Science Fair.

Sign Language Club

This will be an introduction to American Sign Language club. We will go over basic signs (alphabet, numbers, greetings, school vocabulary, colors, animals, everyday words, etc.). You will also get to see some kid friendly sign language videos to help you start to build a receptive vocabulary. We will build up to having conversations with each other using sign language.

STEAM for Girls

Ladies, are you missing our STEAM time this year? Join us as we explore the concepts of science, technology, engineering, art and math in a fun and creative way. From building bridges and balloon rockets to coding and making robots move, let’s work together to become creative problem-solvers, designers, creators, and inventors!

Let’s explore technology! In this club, students will learn about different apps and games through technology. Some of the apps include iMovie, ChatterPix, Tynker (a coding program), and more!
